Police raid on Botanica viaduct catches 18 drivers under influence

The police have caught 18 drivers under influence during one night in a raid on the Dacia Blvd viaduct in Chisinau. One of the drivers, who seemed to be in an advanced state of drunkenness, presented an ID of a foreign embassy attache and refused to comply with the police’s request. The case will be forwarded to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration. According to a communiqué from the Traffic Police Division, cited by Info-Prim Neo, the raid happened on the night of September 29 towards September 30. A filter was dispatched on both movement directions of the viaduct. Overall, from midnight till 4am, almost 800 cars were inspected. The results show that, compared to August, the number of drivers who drive under influence through Chisinau on Saturday nights has fallen from 11% to 2.5% of the total number of drivers inspected.
