Police seize two tonnes of frozen meat smuggled from Transnistria

The officers of the National Investigation Inspectorate found over two tonnes of frozen meat, valued at 46,000 lei, in a man's vehicle. The 36 year old driver failed to present any documents of origin and quality certificates for the meat. He confessed that the cargo was smuggled from the Transnistrian region.

According to a press release of the General Police Inspectorate, the meat was found during the verification of the vehicle. A contravention case has been opened against the man.

According to the law, people who violate the regulation on buying, storing, transporting and selling of material goods can be fined up to 3000 lei and their goods seized.
