The presence of patrol inspectors on the national roads during the next ten days will be more intense. The patrol inspectors, together with colleagues from other subdivisions, will monitor the observance of traffic rules and will penalize the drivers who speed, who drive inebriated and who do not give way to pedestrians, IPN reports.
Daniel Mazepa, division head at the National Public Security Inspectorate, told a press briefing that the measure comes in the wake of the lifting of the state of emergency, during which the efforts were concentrated on the prevention of the spread of infection.
The activities will involve officers of the special destination brigade “Fulger” who will intervene if the drivers do not obey inspectors’ demands.
Pavel Apostol, division head at the National Public Security Inspectorate, noted that the “Speed” operation will be carried out during the next ten days. Trap cars will be placed on road segments with an increased risk of accidents. The police officers will use modern radars to identify speeding drivers at night as well. Those who will be caught driving inebriated risk remaining without the driver’s license.
The patrol inspectors will also conduct the “Pedestrian” operation. Both the drivers who do not give way and the pedestrians who break traffic rules will be penalized. The “Siren” operation is aimed at supervising the drivers who do not give way to ambulances and other units of transport with the siren wailing.
After the event “Ten Days of Activities against Road Traffic Accidents”, the Inspectorate will present the result.
