The police has uncovered explosives in the garage of an alleged terror leader in Comrat town.
A top officer in the Interior Minister, Ghenadie Cosovan, told a news conference Thursday, that after having searched the suspect's property, the police lifted grenades, lenses for grenade launchers, machetes, 20 kg of TNT and over 10,000 cartridges. They found topographic maps showing Moldovan towns, Chisinau and the Ghidighici water reservoir, Cosovan said.
The police also found electoral stuff supporting the Peasant Christian-Democratic Party during the 2005 elections, and documents confirming the link of this party with parties from Russia.
The top police officer says some documents prove some ammunition has been brought from a battalion from Transnistria. “The numbers on the grenade launchers coincide with the shells earlier found following the terror attacks in police commissariats in Comrat district. Thus, we think it to be a terror group. We have the list of members,” Cosovan said.
According to Ghenadie Cosovan, it is believed the armament store was organized in 2005, and the explosive were brought to Moldova by all types of transport.
The alleged leader of the terror group has not been detained.
