Police recommend the people to be careful with their property on holidays, when the number of break-ins increases significantly, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a news conference, Marin Maxian, division head at the Ministry of the Interior, said that more than 1,600 cases of apartment thefts were recorded in Moldova in the first 11 months of this year. There were reported over 600 thefts of animals and birds. The police officers recommend checking if the door and windows are well closed before leaving and asking the neighbors to look after the apartments for the period while one is away. The car owners are urged to equip their vehicles with alarms and make sure that all the doors are closed, and to park the units of transport in easily supervised and well-lit places. According to the Ministry of the Interior, 252 cars have been stolen in Moldova so far this year. There were recorded over 100 thefts of property from vehicles.
