Policeman and doctor caught taking bribe

An employee of the General Police Inspectorate and a doctor from Anenii Noi were arrested on charges of bribery. They are suspected of asking €1,000 from a man for not holding him accountable for driving under the influence, IPN reports.

The criminal case was started by the Internal Protection and Anticorruption Service under the direction of the
Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases.

Three more employees of the General Police Inspectorate are investigated besides the arrested doctor and police officer.

In accordance with the Penal Code, bribery carries a fine of 117,500 to 217,500 lei or two to seven years in jail. A decision is to be taken by court.
