An inspector of the Glodeni District Police Department is accused of passive corruption. According to the Prosecutor General's Office, the officer asked 1,000 euros from a person for not holding him accountable for putting forged money into circulation, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Recently, the Nord Service of the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office sent the case opened against the police officer to the court in Glodeni. The 35-year-old inspector was caught in the act of taking the asked money on January 4.
If the court finds him guilty, the policeman will serve three to seven years behind bars or will be fined 1,000 to 3,000 conventional units (a c.u. is now equal to 20 lei) and will be deprived of the right to hold a particular post or carry out a particular activity for a term of two to five years.
