The politicians violate children’s rights when they use their image for electoral purposes, MP Elena Bodnarenko stated in Parliament on November 22, expressing her regret at the fact that the MPs rejected the proposal to introduce a legislative initiative on the issue submitted by the Communist group in the sitting’s agenda.
Elena Bodnarenko told the journalists that the children from socially disadvantaged groups suffer the most. As a result of charitable actions, without having the parents’ consent, images of these children appear in the print media and on TV, harming their reputation.
The Communist MPs also proposed, but weren’t supported by the majority, a bill that bans the use of names of politicians in the names of charitable foundations as long as these persons are active in politics.
Parliament also rejected the proposal to raise the scholarships of students up to the minimum substance level. “The MPs didn’t even explain why they are against. They want the students to leave the country after graduation. The PDM does not need honest, active people to remain in the county and to oppose those who robbed this country. We will reiterate this and another proposal we formulated in the next legislature. We hope they will be accepted as there is money available in the budget,” stated the leader of the Communist group Inna Șupac.
