An opinion poll concerning the electoral preferences of the residents of the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia, presented by the company “Intellect Group”, shows that Irina Vlah would poll the largest number of votes in the Bashkan (Governor) elections of Gagauzia. Some 57% of the respondents see Vlah in this post, IPN reports.
Survey coordinator Valentin Turcanu told a news conference that Nicolae Dudoglo comes next in the electoral preferences rankings, being supported by 23% of the respondents. Valerii Ianioglo is the third with 8.5%.
The poll reveals that about 90% of those polled are for closer cooperation with Russia. The other respondents want closer cooperation relations with Turkey, the European Union, Ukraine, or Romania.
Commissioned by the newspaper “Panorama”, the poll was carried out between February 26 and March 2 on a sample of 988 respondents. The margin of sampling error is 3.1%.
The first round of the elections in Gagauzia will take place on March 22. If necessary, the second round of voting will be held on April 5. The electoral race involves 11 contenders.
