The Political Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” (PPPDA) condemns the Government’s decision to assume responsibility for a package of seven laws, among which is the bill to transform the loan provided to the three robbed banks - Banca de Economii, Banca Sociala and Unibank – into state debt. “The Platform Dignity and Truth” accumulated over 100,000 signatures of the country’s citizens who categorically disapprove of the decision to make the people return the US$1 billion stolen by the ruling bandits,” the party says in a press statement, quoted by IPN.

According to the party, under the pretext that the urgent adoption of the package of seven laws is a condition for signing the agreement with the International Monetary Fund, the Filip Government shifts the burden of repaying the stolen US$1 billion onto the people.

“The illegitimate government didn’t try to discuss this major problem with the people, as it was done, for example, in Ireland, where a referendum was held on a similar subject. Neither the variant of suspending the state guarantees until every effort was made to recover the stolen money was discussed, as it was done in Nigeria. These things show that those from power include many beneficiaries and accomplices to the thefts committed in the banking system of the Republic of Moldova,” says the statement.

The PPPDA calls on the leaders of the opposition parties, NGOs and the Civic Forum to combine forces and prevent a new large-scale theft. It also suggests convening a large meeting to work out a common plan of action. The party demands that the Filip Government should be immediately dismissed and that early parliamentary elections should be called.
