Prime Minister Pavel Filip in the evening of November 20 convened an emergency meeting following a quarry crash in Pascani village of Criuleni district. According to the latest reports, three persons worked at the quarry managed by a company in the night shift. When the ceiling crashed, two persons died inside, while the third man was taken out of the debris, but died on the way to the hospital, IPN reports.
According to the Government’s press service, the accident was reported at 7.43pm by a call to the emergency service. Pavel Filip ordered to set up a crisis cell that consists of rescuers of the General Emergencies Inspectorate and of representatives of the Prosecutor General’s Office and other competent institutions.
The Premier instructed the responsible institutions to contact the families of the victims and to offer these all the necessary support. He also ordered to immediately open an investigation to establish the circumstances of the accident and identify those to blame.
Pavel Filip requested to immediately carry out inspections at all the quarries in the country and determine the safety conditions there and to intervene and close these if irregularities are identified.
