Moldova’s President Nicolae Timofti assured the foreign ministers of the UK, Poland, and Sweden, who had been in Moldova on a visit, that Moldova will continue to implement the European reforms at a sustained pace, regardless of the recent political disputes. The head of state had a meeting with the three officials in the morning of February 19, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the presidential press service.
“The Republic of Moldova remains a credible and predictable country for its foreign partners,” stated Nicolae Timofti.
The European officials encouraged the Moldovan authorities to persevere on the path to reforms.
British Foreign Minister William Hague said that Moldova made remarkable progress over the last three years, but showed that it has yet a lot of work to do. “The decisions that the Moldovan authorities will take over the next months will greatly determine the future of Moldova and the whole region of which the member states of the Eastern Partnership form part,” he stated.
The European officials inquired especially about the implementation of reforms in justice and the situation in the government coalition. In this connection, Nicolae Timofti said that he will summon a meeting with the leaders of the Alliance for European Integration so as to try and reach a consensus.
