President Igor Dodon said that on May 9, he, together with the Prime Minister and Parliament Speaker, will go to the Memorial Complex “Eternity” to lay flowers. A march will not be mounted that day, IPN reports.
“May 9 is a sacred holiday for us. It is the Victory Day in the Republic of Moldova. But we realize that a part of the activities could not be organized because of the pandemic,” Igor Dodon stated in the program “President Responds”.
He said he proposed that the large-scale events should be staged in August, when it is celebrated the anniversary of the Iasi-Chisinau operation.
Official events and visits to veterans will be staged now. As of May 1, all the World War II veterans will be visited at home.
“In the Republic of Moldova, we now have about 400 veterans. We will visit them, will discuss with them and will help them within possibilities,” said President Dodon, proposing launching a flashmob on the Internet called Undying Regiment. “Daily until May 9, I urge you to post photos of our parents and grandparents who fought in World War II on the Internet, with small comments, stories.”
