Unaffiliated MP Mihai Godea called on President Nicolae Timofti to appear before the nation as this way he can calm things down. He considers that the head of state is the person with the greatest power in the state and, following the defection of a party from the Alliance for European Integration, he must provide assurances and guarantees, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In a press briefing on February 14, the leader of the Democratic Action Party said the banking system loses its credibility, while the political instability can cause a catastrophe. “The people lose confidence in justice, the laws and the law enforcement bodies, but the chaos and anarchy will cause much more evil. In these moments we need the head of state we elected as he has the obligation to take any measure needed to ensure the rule of law and the people’s safety,” stated Mihai Godea.
He stressed that he will not give a vote of confidence to the new government if the current legislature is preserved. “The three or four leaders may come out in several days, smile nicely and say that everything is fine. But the people know that it’s not fine. The way the leaders of the ruling alliance distributed the power and the control levers make them all accomplices and responsible for the lamentable failure in ensuring the ‘democratic change’ in Moldova,” said the lawmaker.
Mihai Godea also called upon the European chancelleries to exert pressure on the political leaders ruling Moldova so as to secure the pro-European course. In the absence of this clear direction, Moldova will slide under the sphere of influence of Russia or will become a state of bandits.
