The presidential elections set for this autumn represent a sham applied by the government to avoid early legislative elections, said experts from last evening’s panel of the talk show “Politics” produced by TV 7 channel, IPN reports.
Grigore Petrenco called on the people to boycott the presidential elections. “This is a bone that the government threw to the opposition for avoiding early parliamentary elections. There is yet time for the opposition parties, of the right and of the left, to sit at a common table and agree to boycott these elections. Then the government will concede,” he stated.
According to Grigore Petrenco, the elections will not be free and fair and this is the main argument for boycotting the elections. “The elections cannot be free when one party or, more exactly, one person controls the Central Election Commission, all the state institutions and 80% of the mass media,” he said.
Valentn Dolganiuc, one of the leaders of the Platform “Dignity and Truth”, said he personally agrees to boycott the presidential elections as the early parliamentary elections are the only chance for changing the state of affairs in Moldova.
