Prisoner strangles himself in protest

A detainee held at penitentiary No.13 in Chisinau killed himself in protest at the punishment imposed on him, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the press officer of the Department of Penitentiary Institutions Cristina Matu. The man aged 32 was sentenced to seven years in jail for human trafficking last March. The body of the prisoner was found in the cell on February 21. The man strangled himself with a towel. He left a suicide note, apologizing to his family and saying that he does not agree with his sentence. Cristina Matu said the prisoner was married and had a child. Allegedly, he committed suicide because of the tense relations in his family. The man refused the medical examination and psychological counseling.
