Prosecutor General Valeriu Zubco ordered, on Friday, May 20, the creation of special group to investigate the most serious crimes, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to a press release of Prosecutor General’s Office, the creation of this group is based on the decision of the Supreme Security Council on April 6, related to the situation regarding very serious and exceptionally serious crimes.
The PGO asked the Government to provide the group with technical-criminal and logistic equipment, including tools for DNA analysis. Prosecutors say Moldova is the last country in Europe that doesn’t have such equipment and often has to request the help of experts from Romania.
Besides prosecutors, 6 operative officers of the Ministry of the Interior will join the group and will provide operative cover for the prosecution. A criminal specialist skilled in polygraph tests will also be needed.
Over the last months, a series of murders occurred in Durlesti and Ialoveni districts, alarming the law enforcing organs because of some striking coincidences. On April 1, a 19 year old boy and his 15 year old girlfriend were found shot in the head, in a car in Durlesti. Nine months earlier, two youth were murdered in a similar way in Ialoveni. In the same district, on May 19, this year, a policeman was injured after being shot with a hunting rifle. He was attacked by a stranger while sitting in his car with his girlfriend. The police didn’t confirm any link between these crimes.
