Prosecutor of Rascani district: Number of offenses decreased slightly

The prosecutor of Rascani district of Chisinau Igor Popa told a news conference that the number of offenses committed in the first nine months of this year declined slightly. An improvement was witnessed as regards the discovery of offenses. “In the first nine months of this year, 39 of the very serious offenses committed in the period were discovered,” said the prosecutor, quoted by IPN.

According to Igor Popa, the investigation into the mass disorder committed at Penitentiary No. 10 in Goian was completed. At the start of September, eight persons were charged and the case was sent to court. The criminal case over the public disorder at the Prosecutor General’s Office on September 6 was also sent to court, seven persons being indicted in this case.

“The case concerning the finding of radioactive substances (Cesium) in Chisinau is being investigated. We will seek support from the Security and Intelligence Service so as to establish all the circumstances of this case. The criminal case was started over violation of the rules of keeping and storing radioactive substances,” said the prosecutor, adding there are yet no suspects in this case.

As to the sack with money found on Albisoara St in Chisinau in July, Igor Popa said they are investigating the version of stealing. “There are no suspects. This is an unordinary case. It could have been an unfortunate accident. The persons transporting that money deny having been involved in the possible stealing and plead not guilty,” stated the prosecutor.

The sack with money was discovered by a passerby who called the police. It was ascertained that the money fell from a collectors’ car and belonged to Banca de Economii.
