The persons with benign tumors will be added to the list of beneficiaries of prosthetic surgery or implantation that are covered by the mandatory health insurance funds. Parliament on Thursday adopted a relevant bill to amend the Law on Health Protection after giving it two readings, IPN reports.

One of the authors of the bill, doctor Adrian Belyi argued that by size and anatomical defects, the surgery to remove benign tumors is similar to surgery in the case of malignant tumors and causes similar severe anatomic and psychological injury. The inclusion of patients with benign tumors in the list of persons who benefit from prostheses or implants will eliminate the existing discrimination and will enable the persons to fully recover and return to social life and work.

The number of persons with benign tumors who need implants or prostheses and who are covered by the provisions of the adopted document stands at seven a year, it is said in a press release.
