The Czech Republic donated protective equipment against COVID-19 intended for healthcare workers and beneficiaries of temporary placement centers for persons with disabilities of Bădiceni (Soroca), Brânzeni (Edineț), Bălți and Cocieri (Dubăsari). The donation was made in the framework of the project “Response to COVID-19 – helping people with disabilities to cope with pandemic” that is implemented by the NGO “People in Need”. The donation to the value of over 588,000 lei consists of masks, gloves, protective suits, hand sanitizers and hard-surface disinfectants, disposable gowns and aprons and visors, IPN reports.
Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Moldova Zdeněk Krejčí said the project “Response to COVID-19 – helping people with disabilities to cope with pandemic” also includes the training of medical personnel and beneficiaries of residential institutions how to take measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Another objective of the project is to reduce the socioeconomic impact of the pandemic on persons with disabilities and their families by supporting income generating activities.
The Czech Republic also donated 21 multifunctional beds for the intensive care units of the Căușeni and Călărași District Centers to the value of €390,000 earlier this month.
