Members and sympathizers of the political party “Our Party” on June 2 mounted a protest march from the square of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova up to the head office of the Democratic Party. According to the party’s deputy head Ilian Casu, the people came to condemn the provoking actions of the Democratic leader Vlad Plahotniuc, which lead to the worsening of the Moldovan-Russian relations, IPN reports.

The protesters rang little bells, suggesting that the people of the Republic of Moldova bid farewell to Vlad Plahotniuc in the same way as the students bid farewell to the school year.

“We want to warn the public opinion that the consequences of the government’s actions can be very serious because the welfare of many Moldovans and their families depends on the good relations between Moldova and the Russian Federation. Therefore, we consider the provocations caused by the Plahotniuc regime in the Moldova – Russia bilateral relations are inacceptable,” stated Ilian Casu.

Earlier, in a video on his Facebook page, Mayor of Balti Renato Usatyi, who heads “Our Party”, said the ‘escapades’ of the government can no longer be tolerated, while the decision to declare five Russian diplomats personas non grata endangers the relations with Russia and can destabilize the situation in Moldova.

The mayor of Balti also said that today’s event precedes the June 11 protest announced by a number of NGOs and representatives of opposition parties.
