Minister of Energy Victor Parlicov said the establishment of provisional management at Moldovagaz by the National Agency for Energy Regulation (NAER) can be an alternative solution to unblock the situation at the company. However, the minister hopes that the situation will be resolved without the need for legislative changes, IPN reports.

"Of course, if we do not succeed and there is no solution in this regard, we will have to look for alternative solutions. And establishing provisional management by the NAER, if the company cannot do so, can be an alternative solution. This is what the draft law provides, but it is to be passed by Parliament, to be discussed. It has not yet been registered. However, we want and hope to unblock the situation without having to change the law," the minister told the press.

The Board of Directors of Moldovagaz is a collegial body consisting of nine members, appointed at the proposal of the main shareholders, of which five members represent Russia’s Gazprom Group. The Ministry of Energy nominated Dorin Junghietu for the position of President of the Board, and Vadim Ceban for the position of Vice-President, while Eduard Calancea and Radu Mandraburca were proposed as members. At the meeting of the Supervisory Board on September 25, the new composition of the company's management, including the president, was to be agreed. Sergiu Tofilat, a member of the Supervisory Board, noted that the Russian side has not yet sent the minutes of the meeting, although this should have been done within five days. Consequently, the approval of the new members of the Board of Directors is blocked.

According to Tofilat, Moldovagaz has to make purchases for the winter, but the process is blocked because there is no one to make decisions. He proposed that an external administration be set up at the company so that the country does not run out of gas. A draft law in this regard has been sent to Parliament for consideration.
