A group of MPs of the Party of Socialists (PSRM) on January 21 submitted a challenge concerning the procedure for voting in the new Cabinet and the President’s decree to invest the Filip Government to the Constitutional Court. These consider the vote was illegal and demand that the Parliament decision should be annulled, IPN reports.

The lawmakers went to the Court accompanied by the protesting sympathizers of the PSRM, the “Our Party” and the Civic Platform “Dignity and Truth”, who surrounded the Constitutional Court.

“This government is illegal. The bought and blackmailed parliamentary coalition is unconstitutional. What they did in Parliament yesterday was an illegality. They violated the regulations, the Constitution, the legislation of the Republic of Moldova. We demand that yesterday’s vote should be nullified and that early legislative elections should be called,” the Socialists’ leader Igor Dodon said before the crowd.

The leader of the Platform “Dignity and Truth” Andrei Nastase said they joined the democratic and civilized approach by which the dissolution of Parliament and early elections are demanded because they consider that all the possible legal procedures should be used.

“On behalf of all the people of Moldova, we demand that a correct decision should be taken as to the vote for the Government. If they do not do this, they should assume the consequences,” said the leader of the “Our Party” Renato Usatyi.

Two days ago, the Constitutional Court rejected as inadmissible a challenge filed by a group of Socialist MPs, who asked to verify the constitutionality of three President’s decrees – to nominate Ion Paduraru as a candidate for Prime Minister, to annul this decree and to nominate Pavel Filip for premiership.
