The appointment of Ruslan Codreanu and Silvia Radu as deputy mayors of Chisinau municipality by order of the acting mayor general represents a raider attack on the Chisinau City Hall and usurpation of the power, the Party of Socialists (PSRM) stated, announcing its intention to challenge in court the order made by Nistor Grozavu, by which the deputy mayors were named, IPN reports.
MP Bogdan Tardea told a news conference that the Democratic Party (PDM) now controls all the state institutions. It corrupted MPs and created a parliamentary majority that supports everything the Government controlled by the same PDM suggests. The PDM, which polled slightly over 2% of the vote in the local elections in Chisinau and thus won one seat of councilor, appointed two of its representatives as deputy mayors by a raider attack. “We are witnessing a coup. The law was violated. Nistor Grozavu didn’t have the right to name the deputy mayors,” sated the Socialist.
Socialist MP Vasile Bolea said that Nistor Grozavu wasn’t empowered to sign am order to name the deputy mayors. The law provides that the deputy mayors are appointed by order of the mayor general only after two failed attempts to name them through the Chisinau Municipal Council. The fact that this issue was on the agenda of the CMC, but was withdrawn for two times, without being examined, cannot be considered failed attempt.
The Socialists called on the parties that earlier announced they would boycott the referendum to remove Dorin Chirtoaca from the post of mayor general of Chisinau to take part in the plebiscite so that the mayor could be dismissed and early local mayoral elections could be held.
Silvia Radu and Ruslan Codreanu were named deputy mayors of Chisinau by order of the acting mayor. Nistor Grozavu also signed a statement whereby he announces that he leaves the post of acting mayor general of Chisinau and this post will be held by Silvia Radu. Silvia Radu was director of Gas Natural Fenosa and in 2016 ran for office of President of Moldova. Ruslan Codreanu is a Chisinau councilor.
