The only way out of this situation is to withdraw the draft law to assume government responsibility, then to consult and vote in Parliament. The statement belongs to the deputy of the Party of Socialists Vasile Bolea and was issued after the group's meeting, which was attended by Prime Minister Maia Sandu.

In a press briefing, Vasile Bolea reminded that a month ago, the political agreement between the components of the parliamentary majority was signed. In his opinion, this agreement was seriously defied by their partners from the ACUM bloc and by the Prime Minister.

The MP said that this agreement also covered justice reform, including the modification of the Law on the Prosecutor's Office. However, according to Vasile Bolea, "on November 6, the provisions of the law were violated". "The prime minister, behind the scenes, foully, put forward a government responsibility assumption bill, which subsequently allows her to personally preselect candidates for the position of General Prosector, disregarding the largest parliamentary group, the PSRM, a team that has so far supported all the government and ACUM bloc initiatives", said Vasile Bolea.

The MP said that on November 6, "the rules of the game were changed during play". According to him, "a symbiosis between Plahotniuc and Filat is represented by Maia Sandu". Vasile Bolea added that the prime minister, through her actions, "broke the agreement". The deputy illustrated this by symbolically ripping off the document in front of the press.

Vasile Bolea said that after an hour and a half long meeting, the Socialist MPs want to preserve the coalition, the government, so that all three components work together. If any problems arise, the PSRM is ready to provide expertise in the field of justice reform. According to the deputy, the only way out of this situation is to withdraw the responsability assumption draft and examine it in Parliament. The Socialist added that, until 15:00, when the Parliament session is to begin, there is still time. It will be seen then what the final decisions are.

On Wednesday, November 6, the government assumed responsibility for amending the Law on the Prosecutor's Office, so that the prime minister would be responsible for preselecting candidates for the General Prosecutor's office. Maia Sandu said that the changes made in September this year did not lead to the expected results of choosing an honest, fair and courageous prosecutor. Although the Ministry of Justice set up a special commission for the preselection of candidates for the General Prosecutor's office, before putting forward the shortlist to the Superior Council of Prosecutors, this task could not be fulfilled due to lack of access for the members of the commission to information regarding the integrity and professionalism of the candidates. Maia Sandu said that she did not identify any other solutions other than to assume responsibility to modify the Law on the Prosecutor's Office, so as to put forward two candidates for the position of General Prosecutor.
