After the three foreign officials – Dmitry Kozak, Johannes Hahn, and Bradley A. Freden – visited Moldova, the Bloc ACUM became more flexible. The jurist of the Party of Socialists Fadei Nagachevski said some of the representatives of ACUM are ready to concede the post of Parliament Speaker, IPN reports.
“Ms. Maia Sandu (PAS president, e.n.) had a more flexible message and communication, while Mr. Năstase (PPDA president, e.n.) continues to use labels and aggressive speech. That’s why it is very hard for me to say if there is a united message inside the Bloc ACUM as regards the possibility of distributing the responsibilities of the power rather than posts,” the jurist stated in a program on TVR Moldova channel.
Political commentator Vlad Țurcanu said the visits paid by the three foreign officials to Moldova were like consultations that the country needs not only in such a political crisis like the present one, but anytime an important decision is to be taken. “Something like this is used by all the countries, including the very developed ones from the EU, not only the marginal ones, like the Republic of Moldova. In this case, important people came to our country, it’s true that a little late, to take the pulse of the political class so as to realize in important chancelleries how they think in Chisinau and what the high-ranking officials should expect from politicians who during three months could not reach a consensus,” stated the commentator.
Cristina Gherasimov, researcher at the German Council on Foreign Relations, considers the political instability in Moldova is not regarded positively. According to her, Moldova fell from the EU’s agenda of priorities, but they yet expect a coalition to be formed in the nearest future. “I think the Berlin has the same expectations as any other European capital – a sustainable coalition that could implement a government program for continuing the reforms commenced several years ago. We see a feeling of tiredness towards the events in Chisinau and expect that the political will needed for the parties to place the national interest at the forefront, not the private interests of private groups and persons, will be ultimately found,” she stated.
On June 3, the political parties had in Chisinau meetings with Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn, Director of the Office of Eastern European Affairs of the U.S. Department of State Bradley A. Freden and Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Kozak. After the discussions, the three officials said a stable Government is needed in Chisinau, but a temporary coalition is also welcome if a consensus for a long term cannot be reached.
