The PSRM considers the snap parliamentary elections are not waned and expresses its readiness to have a dialogue and look for a solution. However, the party’s position in the discussions should be taken into account or the PSRM is ready to take part in snap elections, the party’s leaders said in a meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Kozak, who is the special representative of the President of the Russian Federation for the development of commercial-economic relations with Moldova, IPN reports.

In a press release, the PSRM says the interlocutors discussed the economic and humanitarian cooperation with Russia, the current political situation in Moldova and in the region and the prospects of extending the Moldova-Russian relations in a number of cooperation areas. The Russian side expressed its readiness to solve the key problems under the agreements signed by the Presidents of the two states, Igor Dodon and Vladimir Putin, as regards the resumption of Moldova’s exports to Russia, simplification of customs procedures, the problems faced by Moldovans who live in Russian on temporary or a permanent basis, etc.

The Socialists noted the PSRM supports President Dodon’s efforts to ensure a balanced foreign policy and, in particular, to restore the cooperation relations with Russia. The party considers all the state bodies should be restored, first of all at the level of the Government and Parliament, and supports the President’s efforts to resolve the Transnistrian dispute, with the all-inclusive package for Moldova proposed by Igor Dodon being the starting point.

In the meeting, the representatives of the PSRM presented their position concerning the solving of the political crisis that appeared after the parliamentary elections of February 24, 2019. They underlined the three sets of conditions on the basis of which the Socialists are ready to start negotiations on the formation of the government and the adoption of the country development program. But the decision about the PSRM’s subsequent steps will be taken by the National Council of the Party of Socialists that will be convened this week.
