The Party of Socialists (PSRM) welcomes the decision to support a Socialist nominee for Parliament Speaker taken by the MPs of the Party “Action and Solidarity” (PAS) that forms part of the Political Bloc ACUM. The PSRM reacted after the PAS, after the meeting of its National Political Council yesterday evening, announced it will assume an ACUM government and will adopt the whole package of de-oligarchization laws following the voting in of a Speaker proposed by the PSRM.
In a press release, the PSRM says the approach adopted by those from the PAS is constructive and this was also seen in the negotiations held on June 4, 2019. At the same time, the party warns that the PSRM and PAS at this stage do not have a sufficient number of MP votes for implementing these decisions. “We hope a similar constructive position will be soon stated also by the MPs of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform”, runs the press release.
On June 5, the National Political Council of the PAS decided it will vote for the Socialist Party’s nominee for Parliament Speaker by a 46 to 1 vote. The party said the decision is not based on having trust in the Socialists or on any sort of partnership with them, but it is the only feasible solution for stopping the dictator from seizing control of the country for the next ten years, if not more.
The Standing Political Bureau of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” took notice of the decision of the National Political Council of the PAS and decided to convoke its National Political Council for June 6. The hour and place of the meeting weren’t made public.
