The candidate of the National Unity Party (PUN) for mayor of Balti municipality Sergiu Burlacu officially launched his election campaign on April 18. In the launch event held in the square of the National Theater “Vasile Alecsandri” in Balti, Sergiu Burlacu said the time of changes came in Balti both for the political class and for the prosperity of the people who live in the municipality, IPN reports.

“As other towns of the Republic of Moldova, Balti faces advanced degradation owing to the old infrastructure, which is precarious to my mind. The lack of jobs and excessive migration are also disadvantageous to us, the inhabitants of Balti, and to the prospects of the town. Such developments are mainly due to the political class that ruled in time and to the administration of Balti municipality that did nothing but manipulate the public opinion,” stated the candidate.

Sergiu Burlacu said he will implement a medium- and long-term program to rebuilt and develop the local infrastructure. In this regard, financing will be attracted from foreign partners. The twinning with Romanian communities is another opportunity. Among other objectives are to ensure the real cleaning of the town, to recycle waste, to lay out the parks and set up recreational areas, to build cycling tracks and create new jobs.

PUN president of honor Traian Basescu said Sergiu Burlacu is a young man who hadn’t been involved in political games in Chisinau or in Balti. At the age of 27, the candidate managed to assert himself in the private sector and is a person who can ensure clean government in Balti. The fielding of young candidates in Chisinau and Balti by the PUN is a signal of changes and a signal that the time of another generation in politics came. “And why not of a generation of unionists? Maybe not everyone likes, but the current that favors the union started and I’m convinced that this will be the one that will produce the solution for the Republic of Moldova,” stated Traian Basescu.

Earlier, the National Unity Party presented Constantin Codreanu as its candidate for the mayoralty of Chisinau.
