Punishments for electoral presents

The electoral contenders or political forces that they represent will have to be less 'generous'. The Government included a new article in the Penal Code, which provides for punishments for giving presents to the voters in the electoral period, Info-Prim Neo reports. Under the article, the giving of presents, provision of services and offering of other advantages to people in order to make them vote in a certain way in the parliamentary and presidential elections and in referendums will be punished with 100 to 200 hours of community service or imprisonment of up to three years. The advertising materials are not considered electoral presents.
