A bill that bans the modification of the purpose of sports grounds was adopted by Parliament in the first reading on December 15, IPN reports.
Liberal MP Lilian Carp, one of the authors, said this is a nationwide problem. Many of the sports grounds in the country, not only in Chisinau, do not have the status of stadium. Ill-intentioned people sell them for building something on them. “By this bill we aim to stop the disorder in the field. We know that at the complex Olimpia, for example, they intend to erect an apartment building on the sports ground,” he stated.
Democratic MP Dumitru Diacov, co-author of the initiative, said the adoption of this bill is a signal for those who pave the way for appropriating sports fields and aim to erect apartment buildings or other constructions there.
In connection with the adopted bill, the Government is to ask the local public authorities to compile a register of sports grounds existing in the country.
