In the problem of migration, Moldova is ‘hostage’ to the relations of the Russian Federation with other states because a decision to lift the bans on entering Russia cannot be taken only in relation to Moldovans, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in a news conference held after a meeting with his Moldovan counterpart Igor Dodon, IPN reports.
“We must build our relations with our circle of friends and this thing does not refer directly to Moldova because, if we take a decision concerning Moldova, we will have to do the same in relation to other partners. Moldova is ‘hostage’ to the relations of the Russian Federation with other states,” said Vladimir Putin.
According to him, about 50,000 Moldovans were banned from entering Russia. The cases of those who committed major violations will not be examined. In the other cases, solutions will be looked for so that the people could return to Russia. Vladimir Putin didn’t specify when and how this will happen and at what level and in what format the decisions will be taken.
The President of Moldova Igor Dodon is paying an official visit to Moscow during January 16-18. The meeting with Vladimir Putin took place on January 17.
