Radio Chisinau, which is the newest station of Radio Romania, has been launched in Moldova. In a launch conference, project manager, journalist Marian Voicu said the day of December 1 was chosen intentionally because all the Romanians celebrate their national day on this day, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Marian Voicu said that this event is very important for Moldova as it repeats a historical event. “In 1939, there was founded the first regional station of Radio Romania, which was called Radio Bessarabia,” said Marian Voicu.
Radio Chisinau will broadcast news, cultural and recreational programs and will retransmit the programs of the stations of Radio Romania.
Radio Romania director general Demeter Andras Istvan said the day when Radio Chisinau is launched has a special historical meaning. “Radio Chisinau was launched after 72 years, at 2pm. In 1939 at the same hour, there was launched Radio Bessarabia. Listening to this station, the residents of Bessarabia will be able to find out more about the European realities. This station is a bridge between Moldova and Romania,” he stated.
The opening of Radio Chisinau was possible owing to the contribution of the Government of Romania, especially of the Department for the Romanians Everywhere.
Petre Guran, director of the Romanian Cultural Institute in Chisinau, which is one of the partners of the newly opened station, said a new friend appeared in the Moldovan media area. “I think the project that was launched on December 1, 1918, (the Great Union of the Romanian Principates – e.n.) obtained weight today,” he stressed.
Romanian Ambassador to Moldova Marius Lazurca said the opening of Radio Chisinau is a really important event. “Owing to such events, we will not be forgotten. Radio Romania, through its eldest child, will contribute to the Europeanization of the media area in Moldova. Not accidentally, the Embassy of Romania and the head office of Radio Chisinau are located on the same street – Bucuresti. The two institutions will work synchronously,” said the ambassador.
Radio Chisinau will use the frequency waves of the former radio station Arena FM and the website www.radiochisinau.md.
