The radioactive cloud from the Fukushima nuclear plant passed France and approaches Romania and Moldova, but it does not pose a threat. Constantin Gudima, scientist of the Academy of Sciences' Applied Physics Institute, has told Info-Prim Neo that the radioactive particles from the cloud do not endanger health.
“The cloud is coming closer to Moldova, but the concentration of radioactive substances is negligible. According to sources from Romania, the population is out of danger. The people will have to protect themselves when warnings are issued by the State Hydrometeorology Service, which can analyze the content of the atmospheric gases,” said Constantin Gudima.
According to the French publication “Le Monde”, radioactive substances were detected last week over France. The cloud came from Iceland and is heading for Eastern Europe.
“When the cloud reaches Moldova, the people should avoid staying in the rain. However, the concentration of radioactive substances is now low as the cloud crossed half of the globe,” said Constantin Gudima.
The scientist also said that the people should not hurry to take iodine as the danger is minimal.
