The radioactive cloud from the Fukushima nuclear plant will be above Moldova in three days. Radioactive substances were detected on Wednesday, March 30, above Ukraine. Specialists say the cloud does not pose a threat to people's health, Info-Prim Neo reports. Constantin Gudima, of the Applied Physics Institute, stated for Info-Prim Neo that particles of iodine and cesium were identified yesterday in the atmosphere above Ukraine. “The cloud is at an altitude of 2,500 to 5,000 meters. It is now above Ukraine. It will reach Moldova the coming days, but it is not dangerous as its composition is rarefied,” said Constantin Gudima. According to Constantin Gudima, the iodine contained by the radioactive cloud is not as dangerous as the cesium. If it rains the next days, the cesium from the cloud may reach the soil and cause damage. It is a radioactive substance that decomposes in 30 years. Elena Covan, hygienist radio-protection doctor at the Public Health Division, told the Agency that the cloud will be above Moldova in two-three days, but it does not endanger health as it is situated too high. Specialists of the State Hydrometeorology Service daily analyze the content of the atmosphere. There are yet no reasons for concern.
