Moldovan tennis player Radu Albot failed to qualify for the third preliminary round of the Australian Open, which is the first Grand Slam tournament of the year. On January 10, Albot was defeated by Israel’s Amir Weintraub 7-6, 4-6, 0-6 in a match that lasted for over two hours, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Albot lost the balance in the end of the second set and couldn’t recover in the third set. Thus, the 23-year-old tennis player was eliminated from the Australian Open in the second qualifying round, as last year.
For his performance, Radu Albot will receive a bonus of about US$6,000 and will get 8 points that will push him up in the ATP world rankings.
In 2011 and 2012, Radu Albot was named the best Moldovan tennis player.
