The reasons for the transfer of the case of the mayor of Orhei Ilan Shor from the Chisinau Appeals Court to the Cahul Court are not credible. This was done in a move to prevent the press from reaching the hearings in this case, representatives of extraparliamentary parties stated in the program “Expertise hour” on Jurnal TV channel, IPN reports.
Deputy head of the Party “Action and Solidarity” Mihai Popsoi said the reasons invoked for transferring the case of the mayor of Orhei Ilan Shor from the Chisinau Appeals Court to the Cahul Appeals Court are not credible. “None of the seven panels of judges can examine this case, as it was asserted. This is outrageous and the excuse is ridiculous. It’s clear that this approach to examine the case in Cahul was made in order to continue delaying the examination of this case and to reduce the public pressure on the trial in Chisinau,” he stated.
Deputy head of the Political Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” Liviu Vovc said the case was transferred for fear of the press so that the journalists could not reach these hearings. “This was done to prevent civil society and the political parties that support the protest movement from protesting and demanding the arrest of Shor,” he noted.
According to the spokesman for the Liberal Democratic Party Ion Terguta, the judges understood that at a certain moment they can become part of a political game and will have to face the consequences. “We must find out why all the judges of the Appeals Court refused to try this case. I don’t think it is about a simple replacement of judges. There could be something more,” he stated.
