Recean says he is slandered in order to distract attention from more important things

Minister of the Interior Dorin Recean said the information that his diploma of master is false was disseminated with the aim of diverting attention from more important things. The statement was made in a press briefing, where Dorin Recean provided evidence that he studied at the U.S Newport University, Belgium branch, Info-Prim Neo reports. The minister showed the journalists attending the briefing his diploma and confirmation from the university that he studied there. He said that his studies were partially paid by a program of cooperation between the Government and the World Bank. “I benefited from exceptional courses then. In Moldova there are about 200 mates of mine who attended those courses. They are well-known persons,” he stated. Dorin Recean also said that the reform initiated at the Ministry of the Interior will certainly affect many persons and he thus expects that more attacks on him will follow in order to shift emphases. He stressed he will not allow slandering himself and will continue to focus on the started reform. “I’m sure that there will be more such insinuations. But I will every time provide proofs,” said the minister. Politician Sergiu Mocanu accused Dorin Recean of buying his diploma of master. After this accusation was made, some of the media outlets found confirmations that the minister studied at Newport University, while others that he didn’t study there. The minister didn’t answer journalists’ questions, saying he will not return to this subject.
