Recipients of social benefits under 900 lei will receive cold-season compensations

The recipients of pensions and other social benefits whose monthly value is under 900 lei will receive lump-sum payments for the period January-March to compensate them for the rise in gas, electricity and heating prices, under a legislative initiative approved by the Government. Social Protection Minister Valentina Buliga says the compensation will be 130 lei for one month, amounting to a total of 390 lei. The payments will be made using the database established in 2010, so the recipients – 540,807 in total – will not need to present additional documents certifying their income. The initiative will cost the State Budget 224 million lei.
