The decree signed by President Igor Dodon to hold a national consultative referendum with four subjects is a PR action, consider heavyweights of the Political Party Platform “Dignity and Truth”. In a news conference at IPN on March 30, these said that Igor Dodon during the first 100 days in office acted in the interests not of the people, but of the Party of Socialists.

PPPDA deputy chairman Alexandru Slusari said the initiative to hold the referendum is nothing else but another stage of the preparations for the parliamentary elections made by the Socialists.

“A consultative referendum will have no legal effect and will only burden the state budget as millions of lei will be wasted. Igor Dodon’s initiative does not offer solutions and does not show truthful preoccupation with the country’s welfare. On the contrary, it confirms once again that the current President simulates the fight against the regime,” stated Alexandru Slusari. “Dodon continues the policy to destabilize society instead of destabilizing the system of the captured state, playing actually the game of Vladimir Plahotniuc, who remains on the floating line owing mainly to the division of society according to different criteria.

According to the deputy chairman of the PPPDA, a referendum with immediate legal effect, not a consultative one should have been held in the case of the annulment of the law that makes the repayment of the money stolen from the banking system the people’s burden, while the teaching of the History of Moldova in schools is a subject that can maintain confrontations in Moldovan society for months even if the referendum on this issue will not have legal effects. “It’s clear that this problem is not a key one. It is only designed to confuse the public opinion and distract attention from major problems faced by the population,” said Alexandru Slusari

PPPDA deputy chairman Kirill Motpan said that during the first 100 days of the inauguration, the President of Moldova didn’t show involvement, devotion and attitude to people’s problems. The Platform “Dignity and Truth” calls on the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, regardless of their political beliefs, nationality and religion, to combine forces and oppose any attempt by the Plahotniuc-Dodon duo to distract attention from the major problems of society by inventing false and ephemeral targets.
