The mayor of Balti municipality Renato Usatyi, who heads the Political Party “Our Party”, was arrested by employees of the Security and Intelligence Service (SIS) at the Chisinau International Airport, IPN reports.
Before being arrested, Usatyi told the press that he will make more statements in a news conference, if he is set free and he manages to organize it.
Lawyer Ana Ursachi, who attended the arrest, presented a forced bringing document issued by the Prosecutor’s Office to the journalists. She said that the procedure is not correct and she considers that Renato Usatyi was arrested within the criminal case started after he made public a number of wiretaps of telephone conversations between former Prime Minister Vlad Filat, who is accused of acts of corruption, and businessman Ilan Shor, the mayor of Orhei. The wiretaps showed that the ex-Premier dealt with particular problems of Shor, being rewarded for this.
