Resetting the Government isn’t a solution, according to Lilia Carasciuc, executive director of Transparency International Moldova. Lilia Carasciuc is optimistic about the consultations started by Prime Minister Vlad Filat and told Info-Prim Neo that the National Participation Council expected the Government to come up with a series of proposals that would be supported in the Parliament. “Society doesn’t care from which party each minister comes. These ministers are paid by the state and not by parties. Thereby, they must subordinate only to the Government”, declared Carasciuc. The TI Moldova director was disappointed by the excessive politicization of the governing process, as offices were distributed according to politic criteria instead of professional ones. Lilia Carasciuc deems necessary the consultations initiated by the PM. “First of all, we, civil society, get the chance to directly ask the PM some questions, to find details of the governing process and to get some much-awaited answers”, she stressed. According to Lilia Carasciuc, at the meeting with Prime Minister Vlad Filat, the NGO representatives had the chance to come up with proposals regarding the improvement of the government. “The national priority is the approval of the National Anticorruption Strategy by the Parliament and of the Plan of actions for implementing it. During the discussions, participants stressed that if the strategy wasn’t approved, the Government would get all the blame”, said Lilia Carasciuc. The National Participation Council also demanded more transparency in the education reform and questioned the legality of the demolition of historical monuments. The TI Moldova director added that this was at least the third meeting between civil society representative and the Prime Minister. According to her, the time is appropriate, as elections are over and tempers have settled a little. Lilia Carasciuc hopes the civil society proposals will be taken as a package and analyzed thoroughly.
