Members of the Civic Platform “Dignity and Truth” said they will transmit the resolution adopted in the May 3 protest to Prime Minister Chiril Gaburici by mail, as a recommended letter. The Premier didn’t come to the meeting in front of the National Library, arranged by the members of the Platform’s initiative group, as he waited for them in the Government Building, IPN reports.

Journalist Vasile Nastase, who is a member of the initiative group, said the platform accepted the Prime Minister’s invitation, but insisted that the meeting should take place in a public place, but the Premier didn’t come. “He didn’t come because he was afraid and because he was ordered not to go. They consider that this way they can pretend to be ensuring a democratic process, a dialogue or a communication process with those who criticize them for their crimes,” he stated.

Political analyst Igor Botan, a member of the initiative group, said the Premier didn’t come because he probably feels more comfortable in his company or is afraid of big areas. “We are ready for dialogue. We did our part of compromise. We accepted the hour they proposed and set the meeting place so that there was parity,” he stated.

Another member of the initiative group Stanislav Pavlovschi said the Premier had the possibility to show that the opinions of thousands of people count for him, but he showed the opposite. “Mister Gaburici had more to lose than to gain by not coming here,” he said.

Member Dinu Plangau noted that the resolution that was to be transmitted today to the Premier includes all the demands formulated in the May 3 protest. “He hopes we will go to his office and he will lock the door and will go out victorious, interpreting the discussion with us as a consensus. We will reach a consensus only when all the demands from the adopted resolution are satisfied,” he stated.

Under the resolution adopted unanimously, the authorities are obliged to fulfill the demands during two weeks. If protesters’ demands are neglected, the Civic Platform “Dignity and Truth” will continue to stage peaceful protests and other legal events to make the discredited power react appropriately.
