The inhabitants of other regions of Moldova are asked not to pay visits to Chisinau on November 29 and 30 unless they cannot be avoided. The Ministry of the Interior made such an appeal in connection with the visit that the President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso is to make to Moldova, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a news conference, Minister of the Interior Dorin Recean said that access to some streets will be restricted for traffic. The residents of Chisinau are asked to use public transport instead of the personal vehicles so as not to make traffic heavier. The Ministry informed that the police will check the homes of those who live near the route along which Jose Manuel Barroso’s column will move. The protection measures for this visit are similar to those taken during the earlier visits paid by high-ranking officials. If information about possible dangers to the officials’ life becomes available, the sewerage lids will be welded. Jose Manuel Barroso will deliver a public speech in Chisinau. He will also make an assessment of the relations between Moldova and the European Union. The ordinary people will be able to listen to the European official’s speech in a specially set up place. Jose Manuel Barroso will have meetings with President Nicolae Timofti, Speaker Marian Lupu, and Prime Minister Vlad Filat.
