"Life cannot be replaced as you replace car parts. A lost life cannot be returned." This was the message promoted at a road safety march, from Chișinău to Peresecina, attended by police officers, firefighters, doctors and motorists. The event was organized in the context of the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims, which is marked on the third Sunday of November.

Victor Manole, the head of the National Patrol Inspectorate, said that almost 1900 road accidents occurred in the first ten months of 2019, which led to the death of 217 people, while more than two thousand were injured. According to the INP head, road accidents most often occur due to incompatible speed with road conditions, speeding, jaywalking and driving under the influence.

According to Tatiana Zatîc, department head at the Ministry of Health, Labour and Social Protection, it is important for each traffic participant to respect traffic rules and to respect each other. "Every road accident greatly affects all parties involved in the accident", said Tatiana Zatîc.

Artur Cecan, driving school director, said that in order to improve traffic safety, the school provides theoretical and practical lessons that simulate different situations involving traffic risks, so that future drivers are exposed to it and understand the importance of abiding traffic rules.

In Peresecina, march participants were welcomed by Theoretical High School "A. Donici" students, who organized a thematic flash-mob and shared information leaflets with the drivers.

The Chișinău - Peresecina route segment was selected for the march because it is one of the most dangerous in the country, where frequent accidents which involve both vehicles and pedestrians occur.
