The Ministry of Transport and Road Infrastructure informed that the snowdrifts that formed on sections of the local roads made movement on them impossible. The roads in settlements of eight districts are blocked. These are: Batar, Ciuflesti, Chircaestii Noi, Taraclia, Ucrainca, and Saiti of Causeni; Avdarma, Ciet, Dimitrova, and Congazgicul de Jos of Comrat; Cociulia, Caragis, Samalia, Larguta, Carpesti, Gotesti, and Tartaul of Cantemir; Joltai of Ceadir-Lunga; Borogani, Sarma, Tochile-Raducani, Sarata Razesti, and Tomai of Leova; Marianca de Jos, Simeonovca, Brezoia, Talmaza, Stefanesti, and Purcari of Stefan Voda; Varnita of Anenii Noi, and Schinosica, Munteni, and Topal of Cimislia, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Sections of the national roads are also impassable because of the snow. These are: M1 Chsinau-Leuseni at the border with Romania; M2 Chisinau-Soroca at the border with Ukraine; R1 Chisinau-Ungheni-Sculeni at the border with Romania; R3 Chisinau-Hancesti-Cimislia-Basarabeasca; R30 Anenii-Noi-Causeni-Stefan Voda at the border with Ukraine, and R 34 Hancesti-Leova-Cahul-Slobozia Mare.
The Civil Protection and Emergencies Service said that the access roads to Ochiul Ros, Calfa, Gura Bacului, Varnita, and Speia are blocked. Also, five settlements in the districts of Causeni, Taraclia, and Basarabeasca and in the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia are partially disconnected from the power supply.
On Friday and last night, the rescuers unblocked over 35 units of transport, including a tractor, a minibus, a bus, and two ambulances. Near the Tudora customs post in Stefan Voda district, 38 trucks were stopped so that the vehicles could clear the roads of snow. Five trucks were stopped near Stefan Voda district and 16 trucks near Causeni town for the same purpose.
The people are urged to avoid making trips and equip themselves with the necessary tools, water and food if the trips cannot be avoided. In case of difficulties, one should call 901.
