Romania to finance reconstruction of 1,000 houses in Moldova

Romanian President Traian Basescu, in an interview for Hotnews, said, quoted by Info-Prim Neo, that a part of the €25 million planned in the amended budget of Romania will be used to reconstruct 1,000 houses in the flood-stricken areas of Moldova. Traian Basescu said the houses affected by floods in Romania will also be repaired. “Tender contests have been held both for Romania and for the houses damaged by floods in Moldova,” the President said. In the same interview, Acting President of Moldova Mihai Ghimpu was asked if he was satisfied with the investments made by the Romanian companies in Moldova. “I want the Romanian companies to invest in Moldova and give an example to other investors from Europe and the West,” he said. He also said that the investments in Moldova came after the July 29, 2009 elections, but the head of state was not voted in because of the Communists Party and the investments stopped. “The companies invest where there is political stability. Now they wait for the results of the referendum and elections,” Mihai Ghimpu said.
