Romania will help the Republic of Moldova to bring its legislation into line with the acquis communautaire, according to the Action Plan in the field of justice for 2025-2027, concluded between the ministries of justice of the two states The document was signed on Thursday in Chisinau, IPN reports.

At a press briefing, Minister of Justice of the Republic of Moldova Veronica Mihailov-Moraru said that the plan involves the continuation of inter-ministerial cooperation. It is the Romanian Ministry of Justice’s contribution of the resources for their Moldovan counterparts to advance in the justice sector reform.

The Moldovan official noted that Romania’s experience in the process of joining the EU is valuable expertise support. The signed document renews the cooperation plan, with emphasis on the European integration component. Actions will be stepped up in the recovery of criminal assets, modernization of the penitentiary system, improvement of human rights protection mechanisms in the two states.

The Minister of Justice of Romania Alina Gorghiu said that providing support for the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the EU IS Romania’s priority in the next three years. The signed action plan emphasizes the Moldovan legislation’s connection to the EU acquis. Romania will dispatch experts to help with any issues related to accession. On the dimension of the penitentiary system, the cooperation will soon produce results. In addition to the training of penitentiary agents in Moldova, possible financing axes have been identified to support the modernization of the objectives of the penitentiary system.

Alina Gorghiu concluded that the place of the Republic of Moldova is next to Romania in the EU, and Romania will offer it all the necessary support.
