The positive effects that the standards that Romania was to meet for entering NATO had on the Romanian society were presented by Romania’s Ambassador to Moldova Daniel Ionita at the Cahul State University “Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu”, where the diplomat gave a public lecture. The event was organized by the NATO Information and Documentation Center in Moldova, IPN reports.

In a press release, the Embassy of Moldova says that Daniel Ionita presented the security challenges in the extended Black Sea region and the specific mechanisms of cooperation that NATO implements in the relations with the partner states, insisting on the particular case of the Republic of Moldova. In this regard, the diplomat underlined the fiduciary fund for the disposal of hazardous chemicals and pesticides to which Romania made a significant financial contribution and the cooperation programs implemented under the aegis of the Science for Peace and Security Program.

Daniel Ionita noted that NATO is a perfect political-military body adjusted to the current challenges and realities, which centers on collective defense, but is open for cooperation with and the constructive involvement in the dialogue of the partner states, including through education and scientific cooperation programs.

While in Cahul, the Romanian diplomat had a meeting with the mayor of Cahul municipality Nicolae Dandis and the rector of the State University “Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu” Andrei Popa.
