Running race to draw attention to needs of children

A free running race “EU4Cahul Marathon -10 km” with the slogan “Run for Peace” will be staged in Cahul on Sunday, May 8. The event is aimed at improving access to high-quality social services for children and adolescents from the municipality of Cahul and from all over the Republic of Moldova, Cristina Stratulat, UNICEF Moldova communications consultant, has told IPN.

“By this competition, we aim to draw public attention to the needs of children and to the necessity of offering social support to them, including in the context of the Ukrainian refugee crisis,” said Cristina Stratulat.

The official inauguration of the running race will take place at 10:30am. The race will last until 1pm. Each of the runners will get a start kit with a participation number and a T-shirt. The best athletes will receive medals and diplomas. “All those who want to test their strength in the competition can do it without hesitation,” stated the communications consultant of UNICEF Moldova.

The event is organized by the Cahul mayor’s office and is financed by the EU in the framework of the EU4Moldova: Focal Regions Program, being implemented by UNDP Moldova and UNICEF Moldova.
